Antigua is full of unique and memorable experiences for every kind of traveler. We have compiled a list of the most recommended activities. Many of these trips are bookable through the Chabad Antigua website.

Acatenango Overnight Hike
Watching Volcan Fuego erupt is one of the highlights of any Central America trip. You’ll spend the night at a base camp on neighbouring Acatenango that overlooks Volcan Fuego, which is famous for its frequent eruptions*. (Like every 30 minutes or so!)
This is a challenging uphill hike, at a high altitude, but something no visitor to Guatemala should miss.

Arqueológico Kaminaljuyú
An archaeological complex, showcasing unique ruins from the pre-classic Mayan empire. Featuring an impressive collection of Mayan cultural materials such as ceramics, sculptures and monuments; Kaminaljuyú archaeological park is perfect for those interested in Mayan culture and history.


Hobbitenango
Hobbitenango is located in an area called Vuelta Grande, just 20 minutes by car from Antigua.
The Hobbit- themed Park includes a variety of activities from bungee swings to axe-throwing, all included for the entrance fee. There are beautiful panoramic views of the Panchoy Valley and the surrounding volcanoes.
It is recommended to arrive in the afternoon and stay until sunset. Entrance Fee: 50Q

El Pilar
An amazing ecological park only a 10 minute drive away from Chabad Antigua
Several hiking trails at different fitness levels and an amazing view of the area, three large natural pools of water for swimming.
The pool area has showers and toilets for the convenience of users.
Entrance fee per person: For the pools - 60Q
For the walking routes - 50Q

Finca Colombia Coffee Tour
A fascinating tour of the coffee plantations of Guatemala.
Learn about the coffee making process and taste authentic Guatemalan coffee straight from the orchard.
Duration: two hours.
Tour hours: 9:00 am,11:00 am, 2:00 pm
Price:20$ per person.
Ask for an English tour.
Make sure to confirm pick up location for the tour shuttle (Pick up is about half an hour before the tour.)

Château DeFay
An experimental winery and vineyard located 30 minutes from Antigua.
They also grow avocados and passionfruit.
Pacaya Volcano Tour
An experience not to miss, hiking up a recently active volcano. This hike is not overly strenuous and provides a breathtaking view of the surrounding area. The top of the volcano is hot and you can even roast marshmallows over the lava.
The tour leaves daily at 2:00 p.m.and returns at 9:00 p.m
The hike is about 1.5 hours each way
You can book for the trip at the Chabad House Antigua. Payment will be transferred directly to the driver, and 50Q at the entrance to the site separately.
Horse ride:100Q for each way. Transportation - 110Q.
Entrance fee - 50Q (paid at the entrance to the park).


ATV and Motorbike Tours
Antigua offers multiple ATV tours for every style of traveler. Half-day and full day tours are available.
We recommend a tour of the surrounding villages and factories, but there are also sunset tours, mountain tours and coffee tours.

Ziplining and Casa Santo Domingo
A cultural park with expansive views of all 3 of Antigua's volcanos, shops, museums and bars with a ziplining activity.
You must schedule this in advance and be at your hotel to catch the shuttle that leaves at 10:00 am, 12:30pm and 2:30 pm.
The price for the Extreme Plus track is $45 (recommended)

La Aurora National Zoo
Considered one of the most beautiful zoos in Central America, La Aurora boasts an impressive collection of fauna and flora. Roam the different areas of the zoo, cleverly divided by continent to visit all 287 species of animals. Less than an hour away from Antigua, La Aurora is the perfect low-impact day trip.
The Artisan Market
A covered market nestled in the heart of Antigua, filled with brightly colored textiles, jewelry, wooden handicraft and souvenirs. Bargaining with the local vendors is expected and brings an authentic feel to your shopping experience.

Learn Spanish
Tourists from around the world flock to Antigua eager to improve their Spanish. Antigua is home to several reputable Spanish language schools. The variety of class options range from private lessons to homestays with a local Guatemalan family.
